It's that time of year and we're all in pools, rivers, and oceans. I wanted to tell you what we're doing to help support our kids immune system. Our daughter is on our local swim team and spends a lot of time in the pool each week. My man is still rehabbing a knee surgery in the water. I posted a guest post about drinking water last summer and it's worth a re read.
Breathing the chlorine fumes is actually worse for your immune system than swallowing it. It also absorbs into your skin. So what do we do? My daughter thrives as a swimmer. I've pondered pushing her towards a different sport. It's not going to happen so we support her as best as we can.
1. Wear those goggles.
2. Always shower right after. Our daughter uses a loofa and natural shower gel with some drops of orange essential oil and peppermint. These cut the lingering smell but the acids in the citrus also cut some of the residue left on the skin. My man uses a Re-charge Bodyscrub Bar. You could make your own or just add the oils to your favorite gel wash.
3. Drink lots of water. Eat lots of dark vegetables. These are your body cleansers.
4. Eat seaweed. The naturally occurring iodine supports the immune system.
5. We take chlorophyll specifically for the chlorine.
Enjoy your food for thought.
Power to the family!
